How Long Does It Take To Start A Podcast?

A lot of people often think that a podcast takes a really long time to start, which is why many put off starting for so long. However, the process is actually pretty quick!

Here at The Podcast Boutique, we recommend having a run up period to the launch of the podcast, whether that is an internal podcast for a company or a podcast for the public about your business. It’s all about thinking about the message you want to share with your audience, and making sure that the podcast has had enough time to breathe, before it actually launches.

Due to this run up period you have, the excitement around your brand-new shiny podcast builds, and your audience can't wait to hear the first series.

Therefore in terms of time, there are a few things you’ll want to consider when you‘re launching, so we’ve created a simple list to follow:

1. Strategy

First, you need to ask yourself a few questions and dig deep. Who is your podcast for? What is it about? What are the goals and objectives for your podcast? What message would you like to portray to your listeners?

2. Prepare and Research

After discovering clear answers to these questions, you're going to need to prepare and research. I’d suggest doing this for your first couple of episodes to get ahead of yourself, or if you’re the type of person who likes to batch record (it saves so much time!) Focus on what the content is going to be and the format you're going to have.

3. Record it

Now for the fun part! You get to sit down (or stand, its completely up to you since no cameras are involved) and speak your wonderful ideas and stories into your microphone, and record it for your audience.

4. Edit it

Then, your podcast episode will need editing. Don’t worry if you used the word ‘like’ or ummed and ahed a little too much, these can easily be snipped out. Add some appropriate music and your intro and outro and you’re good to go!

5. Upload and Schedule

Finally, you just need to upload and schedule your podcast episode to you favourite streaming apps and Lisbyn, and the listeners will come in! You’re officially a podcaster.

6. Promotion

Additionally, it’s likely you’ll want to share your new podcast across your social media channels, so you’ll need some time to create these assests and promote the episodes too.

Now, if this is still sounding like a lot to do for just one person, or too time consuming whilst working a full time job, we can help with that. At The Podcast Boutique, all you need to do is physically record your episode, send everything to us, and then we can create the podcast for you! You don’t have to worry about anything else other than sitting and speaking into your mic.

So, if this is something that you’ve found interesting, or you want to start a podcast but you think you don't have the time, then this is the way to do it. You can check our our website below or reach out to us HERE.
