Why Private Podcasts are Essential for Remote Teams

If there’s one thing we’ve learned about ourselves over the last few years, it’s that we all crave human connection. We all crave that connection to something bigger than us and a bigger purpose. This is the number one reason why I’m so passionate about private podcasts being such a great way to support your remote teams and create this human connection within your team, both online and offline.

I believe there are four significant things that give us a really good idea about how a private podcast could be helpful in your remote team, and they are as follows:

Accessibility

This is all about your team feeling part of something bigger, whether they’re working from home or next door to their colleagues, whether they’ve never met or meet up all the time, it’s important because it's for them. A private podcast works as a really valuable tool to make each and every member of your team feel included, and increase the human connection within your company.

Bridging gaps

A private podcast can really help to bridge any gaps between leadership teams and remote teams, as nobody likes to be micromanaged, so this creates a sense of community and shared experience between everyone. It can also help to build relationships between the different parts of your organisation too, and make all of your departments feel like they are actually all on the same team!

Information stream

Additionally, they provide a really great way for you to create an episode around any company updates, news, or information you have that can simply fit into their day. Due to a podcast being audio only and listening usually being a secondary activity, your team can focus on what's been said without any other distraction. This is something your listeners will likely be grateful for, compared to having to sit and watch a long and awkward video trying not to zone out, or having to get out of their dressing gown to join a Zoom meeting! Overall, it's a very useful method to get information across to your remote teams in a quick and engaging way.

Cost effective

Finally, it's super cost-effective! I personally believe it’s one of the most cost-effective ways of having all your content in one place, held in an audio library. As all the information will be in one place, it allows companies to cover a huge range of topics with simple access for all your employees, including those working remotely. They can quickly pick up information told within your podcast episodes, that will help them in their career development. It helps you to be able to get across your goals, your values, and everything that makes your organisation unique and genuine.

I could go on and on about the reasons why I think private internal podcasts are so great for your organisation, but I’ll leave you with these 4 important reasons today.
